THE NOISE CONTROL PROCESS
Step 1: Analyzing Your Needs
As the first step in your project, we discuss your specific
noise problem, identify the characteristics of the system
involved, and determine the restraints and requirements of the
intended noise control device.
In many cases, a readily available Acousti-Flo™
device will be the solution to your noise problem. If not, we
will recommend a new, customized product, which we can promptly
design, develop, fabricate and test.
Step 2: Designing Your Product
This step includes both acoustic design and mechanical design.
These two phases interact with each other and closely follow your
input, specifications and needs.
In the acoustic design phase, we design the geometry and
configuration of a noise suppression product that gives you
optimum acoustic performance. We use our computer software and a
test data base to project the performance of a new product.
In the mechanical design phase, we typically specify the
materials and manufacturing processes for your product, evaluate
forces and stresses in the product, and determine a pressure drop
and temperature distribution.
Step 3: Fabricating Your Product
AcousticFab has the in-house capabilities to build your product
from our design or from your drawings. We specialize in the
processing of high-performance composite and metal structures.
The materials we process include:
Most AcousticFab products are cured and adhesive-bonded in
ovens with temperature capabilities of up to 850°F (454ºC) and size capabilities of 65 x 68 x 95 inches
(1650 x 1730 x 2410 mm). Other processes include welding,
machining, roll forming, trimming, sanding, drilling, and
riveting.
We are approved to the MIL-1-45208A and MIL-STD-45662 and
comply with the requirements of ISO 9001. AcousticFab's
Quality System has been approved by several aerospace companies,
including Boeing Defense, Raytheon, Sundstrand, Allied Signal,
Bristol Aerospace and others.
Step 4: Testing, Repair and Maintenance
of Your Product
AcousticFab recognizes the importance of product development
and performance verification capabilities. These capabilities are
significantly enhanced by an acoustic test lab that is modeled
after Boeing's similar facility. The lab features a 10000 cfm
(17000 m³/hr) blower, a plenum chamber with noise sources, test
duct, semi-reverberant room and a data acquisition and reduction
system. In this lab we can test noise control products for
acoustic performance and pressure drop. Also, we can measure the
attenuation of test samples, which helps in development of new
products.
After your product or system has been installed, AcousticFab
continues to work for you. We provide repair and maintenance
services for your products as needed.
